Oh man. It feels good. Good to tell the critics to finally shut up. My New York Jets are 6-3, tied for the division lead. They just beat the St. Louis Rams 47-3. I don’t care who you’re playing. Scoring 47 points is impressive. So is holding your opponent to 3 points. They were winning early, and they scored often. So for all you haters: time to finally buy into the Jets.
They beat the Bills, who were supposed to be a new, up- coming team that was supposed to replace teams like the Jets. So much for that. The Jets are winning. Accept it people. Brett Favre isn’t the only reason for their wins either. Thomas Jones is finally showing consistency. Leon Washington has been ridiculous (gotta love how hard he works out on the field). Keller, Cotchery, and Coles. Ever hear of them? How about three solid receivers?
Still have doubt about them New York Jets? Just wait til Thursday. New England may be good, but they haven’t seen the Jets since they’ve become dominant. And man do they need to be worried.

Wow, I have been away forever. All those college apps, new school year, so much sports. But I’m back. And man do I have a lot of stuff to say.
A new NBA season is officially underway, and there are a billion story lines already. I’m going to tell you 5 things that are going to be happening this coming season.

Roger Federer. You might’ve heard of him. You know, that guy who has 13 Grand Slams. Like 20 consecutive semi-finals in Grand Slams. Five Wimbledons and five US Opens. And one sweet forehand.
But the real question is, is he the best tennis player ever?
I’m still of the opinion that Fed is not the best ever. He is undoubtedly one of the the best ever, but is he the king of all tennis kings? I’m not so sure. For one, I still don’t like the fact that he hasn’t won the French Open. To be the best ever, as far as I’m concerned, you have to win all four majors. That’s why I still like a guy like Agassi over a Sampras: Sampras has won more GS, but Agassi won his over a variety of surfaces.
The other thing I don’t like about Federer is his losing ways against Nadal. Nadal has gotten the best Federer more times than not. He holds a huge edge against Federer on the clay courts, and this year, he showed that he may have surpassed Federer as the master of the grass at Wimbledon. To be the best ever, as far as I’m concerned, you have to be able to beat anyone at anytime. Sampras and Agassi had some epic battles, but in the end, it was Sampras who won more often. If we want to make an analogy between Nadal and Federer and Agassi and Sampras, Nadal is undoubtedly the Sampras right now.
Is Federer the greatest tennis player ever? I certainly don’t think so. What do you think?
You might know about Brandon Jennings. He was touted the number one high school prospect from last year’s class. He was the LeBron or KG of his class. But in an unprecedented move, he decided that college wasn’t what he wanted. As a result, he went to Italy to play. And I’m rooting for this guy.
I hate the fact that high school players can’t go straight into the NBA. Yeah, you get your Kwame Browns’, but you also get your Kobe Bryants’, Lebron James’ and Kevin Garnetts’. More importantly to me, instead of making money, players have to pay money to play basketball (although that’s not always true). Jennings decided that he the logical loophole was to go straight to Europe to play basketball. He can come back to the NBA anytime, but in the meanwhile, he’s making a million for 3 years, and already has an endorsement.
Stern has to be extremely nervous right now. Let’s say Jennings turns out to be the next superstar in Europe. Until this year, it would only have made sense for him to come the to the “real league”, the NBA, and make some real money. However, now, there’s no guarantee he will do that. For one, he has the potential to make much more money in a stronger European market. Does he really care about winning an NBA championship as opposed to a European one? Besides, in Europe, Jennings has more endorsement potential. There will be a lot of companies that can appeal to Jennings and point out the variety of Europe.
Don’t sweat it though, Stern. Of course Jennings is going to come back to America. I mean, it’s not like Europe holds anything for a 19- year old (or is that the NBA?)
Congrats to the Rays on making the playoffs.
Congrats to the Cubs for a second straight division title.
Congrats to the Yankees for not being eliminated from the playoff hunt.
That’s right folks. The Rays, who were supposed to be in a rebuilding season, have made it to the playoffs. And despite what everyone else thinks, this is a team that should worry everyone. These guys go out there and have fun. They aren’t overpayed, egotistical players. Most of all, they’ve been deying odds all season, and there’s no reason to believe they’re going to stop any time soon. This team has the perfect mix of young players and veterans, and they are the only team heading into the playoffs with nothing to lose.
The Cubs, on the other hand, have a lot to lose. And they know it. Piniella sweats every time someone asks him about the World Series. Last year, they blew it in the playoffs. Hopefully, there’s no repeat this season. I wouldn’t mind seeing Soriano in the World Series.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to congrats my team, the NY Yankees, on getting eliminated at home. You don’t want to lose your chance at the playoffs by losing at home, and hopefully Petite destroys Baltimore tomorrow in the final game in the most historic ball parks of all time. Okay, realistically, I have more of a chance of making the playoffs than the Yankees (I know that made no sense, but that’s how dire their situation is). But do you really want to leave Yankees Stadium forever on a sour note?

Wow. That’s what I have to say after watching the US Open. Men’s semi- finals. At Arthur Ashe Stadium. Wow.
I saw Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray all play.
Let me start from the beginning. The first match was Nole (Djokovic) and Federer. Djokovic seemed to come out half- asleep. He had some nice shots, but he wasn’t moving his feet at all, and barely seemed to be making an effort. Federer, on the other hand, was on top of his game. Every forehand was a crisp shot, and he was serving ridiculously.
Djokovic came back with a vengeance to win the second set. He was firing on all cylinders, and won a tough set. That’s when the bad news hit. Due to bad weather, Nadal and Murray would start playing in Louis Armstrong Stadiu, the only alternate venue. In other words, both the semis were going on the same time. My family decided to go watch Rafa and Murray. Kind of glad we did. Apparently, by the 4th set, Federer didn’t allow his match to be much of a match.
Nadal and Murray was a lot of fun to watch because we were closer to the action. Finally, I got to see all of Nadal’s crazy topspin firsthand, and watched Murray flatten out balls like it’s his job (oh wait…). Murray easily took the first set, and won a tough second set, but then the Nadal came storming back in the third. That’s when the rain hit. Unfortunately, the match didn’t end. Fortunately, my family’s tickets are still valid. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow :-).

Okay, so the baseball regular season is coming very close to an end. Every day, some teams get closer to reaching the post- season while others see their hopes fade away. But the real question is, has someone established themselves as the best team in baseball?
What do you think? Who’s it going to be? Wanna win a prize?
If you think you know who it’s going to be, leave a comment with the team you think is going to win the World Series as well as your email. Your address at your email (no @ symbol) is how you should leave it to prevent from getting spammed by spam bots. If more than one person pick a player, I will randomly choose one of the correct.
What does the winner get? His/ her favorite teams logo/ players picture (any sport) on my blog along with a link to his/ her website if she has one, as well as a guest post if he or she so pleases.
It’s been an awesome US Open already and here are my top 5 moments so far:
1. Ivanovic Upset by 188 Ranked Julie Coin- The supposed best player in the world couldn’t even make it to the third round. Julie Coin, a French woman, defeated Ivanovic today in a 6-3 third set. In the final game, Ivanovic hit two forehands into the net on deuce and hit a shot way out on match point for Coin. I didn’t expect Ivanovic to win the darn thing, but I didn’t expect a second round loss either.
2. Rafa is Cruising- Rafael Nadal is looking like the Wimbledon and French Open- winning Gold medalist that he is. He is simply playing his best harcourt tennis ever and even though his opponent today (Ryler de Heart) gave him a tough third set, there was no doubt as to who was going to win the match. Suddenly, Rafa is looking like the master of all jacks (or surfaces).
3. Roddick Looking 5 Years Younger- Of course, 5 years ago, Roddick won the US Open. That has been his only major so far, and as far as I can see, this might be his best shot. Roddick isn’t getting any younger, and there’s no time like know for the hardest server in tennis to try and win it again. An improved backhand and smarter net play are definitely going to be big assets to him this tourney
4. American Men Actually Showing Up- Fish, Blake and the aforementioned Roddick are finally giving America a reason to cheer in tennis. All three are playing excellent tennis, and chances for an American grand slam haven’t looked this good since Sampras and Agassi played (although that tells you a lot more about the state of American tennis now more than anything else).
5. The Safin/ Safina Combo is Deadly- Listen, I think Safin is one of the nicest tennis players off the court. But both him and his sister are really mean on the court. And by mean, I mean they are ridiculously talented. I think this is the closest a brother- sister have ever come to having a shot at winning a Grand Slam. Quite frankly, don’t be too shocked if both make it very far in the tournament.

Oh sorry, I meant Adam Jones. You know, the football player? Adam No Longer Pacman Jones was reinstated by NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell today, and will officially play his first game for the Dallas Cowboys next month. It seems like he will be making it rain on the football field once again.
But all jokes aside, it’s nice to see Jones back. I’m serious. On the football field, very few players have the skill set that Jones does. He’s a ridiculously talented guy. He plays on the defense, special teams, and may now even play on the offense. Are you kidding me?
Jones is easily one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Once you stick him on a receiver, you can say good- bye to that receiver for most of the game. He has very solid hands, is very quick, and has a high football IQ. He reminds me of Ron Artest in his style of play. Very good defensively, and apparently good enough to play offense now. He is also a good punt returner, and will undoubtedly cause some headaches next season. Tennessee is going to regret giving him up, even if he was a distraction at times.
The Cowboys are a very interesting team. Tank Johnson, Terrel Owens, and Pacman Jones. Three players no one wanted to deal with are now model citizens. Kudos to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for having the confidence to take three guys no one else wanted to. He took three big risks, and right now, all three are paying off. The Cowboys are really looking formidable next season. I know you’ve been hearing that for the last two seasons, but now, Dallas has experience and something to prove. Watch out for them next season.
